Georgetown & Five Islands Maine - The Way Vacation Should Be!
This great Mid-Coast Maine vacation rental is only an hour from Portland International Jetport, but yet a world away. The “camp” (as people from Maine call their cottages) is close to the beautiful sandy beaches and trails at Reid State Park, which boasts one of Mid-Coast Maine’s few and most beautiful flat sandy beaches, complete with sand dunes. The rental owner (who founded BETTER Vacation Rentals) supplies the visitor’s pass to Reid to provide you a greater value. Georgetown is an island, but you are connected by a few short bridges and will think you are on a glacial peninsula. The vacation rental is in the Five Islands section of Georgetown Maine and near quaint Five Islands Harbor and Wharf where you can enjoy Maine lobster, clams and hand made ice cream. Five Islands has been named one of the prettiest harbors in Maine and is just a few coves south of this perfect cove. This Maine vacation rental cottage provides the perfect setting to sit back and relax, but is close enough to do more if you choose. Historic Bath and the Maine Maritime Museum are just 20 minutes away and famous Freeport shopping (including LL Bean) is only about 40 minutes. Our rustic coastal vacation rental has 3 bedrooms (sleeps 4 adults, 3 children, 1 bath, full kitchen, living room and eating area. It boasts two decks, dock, float, a grassy play area and 5.5 acres of woods. For the boater and water enthusiast there are 200' of frontage on the Little Sheepscot River (saltwater) and two moorings available for power or sail boats. There are currently two kayaks available for use at your own risk with this midcoast Maine vacation rental. This is a classic and old fashioned Maine midcoast experience with no television to distract you from the peace of the Maine cottage or "camp", as Mainers call it, guest stay. Summer rentals are in keeping with the Maine and New England tradition and run Saturday to Saturday. We do break from tradition, and provide sheets and towels for our guests' convenience.

  The home is exactly as advertised, no surprises. It was a perfect place for our family. The kids loved the kayaks and we all enjoyed buying lobsters fresh off the boat...We brought our boat and explored the rivers and islands and side trips to Boothbay. We left rested and refreshed.   Our family had an absolutely fabulous time staying at Mussel Cove. We have two boys, eight and three, and having plenty of room for them to play helped make our visit a real success. Most mornings we would let the boys run around outside while we had coffee and tea. They blew bubbles on the deck, played on the swings, and otherwise entertained themselves while we relaxed. We'd then head off to Reid State Park (only a couple of miles down the road, and the park pass comes with the cottage). The beaches are beautiful in this part of Maine, one of the reasons we chose this cottage. In the afternoon while our younger boy napped we would fish off the dock, or play games in the living room; there was a good selection of board games, including Scrabble, which our eight-year-old loved. In the evenings we would cook in the well- organized kitchen, and then sit out by the deck and cook marshmallows over the firepit; or we would go out for seafood and an ice cream dessert.   We had a wonderful week in Georgetown at your cottage! Lost the first day to rain, but the rest of the week made up for it with abundant sunshine & comfortable temperatures. The cove was perfect - lobster boats, passing sailboats, and beautiful sunrises. Even a morning fog was breathtaking. Thanks for the use of your kayaks and the great dock for our boat. The fishing was challenging, but rewarding - the Five Islands Lobster Co. was delicious - lobsters were sweet. Only complaint was the green head flies, but they are to be expected at the end of July. Kayaking was fun and gave us a different view of the cottage and the cove. A red squirrel romped in the trees, and a chipmunk came upon the porch, looking for scraps to eat. We had a wonderful time, not only was the place spotless and beautifully decorated but the ambience ensured a very relaxing stay. We paddled the kyacks up and spent time with the seals, purchased lobsters from the locals and cooked them up with the pot provided and spent money in Freeport!! I would recommend this place to anyway who wants to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. Thankyou.
